County Floodplain Management Plan Now Available for Public Comment Until July 7, 2016
The County of Los Angeles is notifying the community about the opportunity to comment on the Draft County Floodplain Management Plan. The Plan is available at: http://dpw.lacounty.gov/WMD/NFIP/FMP/draftFMP.cfm and comments will be accepted on our website through July 7, 2016. A flyer announcing this comment period is also attached.
The Floodplain Management Plan covers the County unincorporated areas and was developed following FEMA’s prescribed steps. It identifies:
- Watersheds and flood hazard sources
- Flood hazard exposure (populations, structures, and value of exposed structures)
- Flood hazard vulnerability (negative impacts to people and estimated damages to structures due to a flood)
- Flood hazard mitigation initiatives that can be implemented by the County, organizations, and property owners
The attached flyer has been sent to all properties in the unincorporated areas that have a structure in the flood hazard area. However, others may also want to review the Plan and provide comment. Any assistance in distributing this information to the Quartz Hill community would be much appreciated.
